Lise Taylor, Chief Engineer at Black and Veatch, has received the prestigious "Project Manager of the Year" award from the Association for Project Management (APM)

Lise Taylor, Chief Engineer at Black and Veatch, has received the prestigious "Project Manager of the Year" award from the Association for Project Management (APM), the largest independent professional body of its kind in Europe.

Taylor received the award in recognition of her outstanding efforts leading the "Right to Roam" mapping project for the Countryside Agency.

The five-year "Right to Roam" project was designed to implement the Government's Countryside and Rights of Way Act of 2000 that granted a new right of access to open country and registered common land in England and Wales for walkers to enjoy.

Taylor successfully managed a team of Black and Veatch professionals who worked with the Countryside Agency to develop countrywide mapping and a system to maintain statutory maps in an electronic format.

The project team also assisted the agency in holding extensive public consultations.

"This has been a gratifying project to work on, especially seeing it through from its early beginnings," said Taylor, whose career with Black and Veatch extends nearly two decades: "I am thrilled to be recognised by the APM with such a prestigious honour".

The APM praised Taylor for her effectiveness in managing a large team through the course of the challenging project and the high level of innovation used for developing new resource management tools and techniques.

At the APM awards dinner in London's Savoy Hotel, Lise received an exclusive trophy designed by British designer Nigel Cripps, GBP2000 cash and a winners' certificate.
