WEFTEC sessions will feature B+V water experts
Water practice and technology leaders and other professionals from Black and Veatch are participating in 28 technical sessions, seven workshops and six poster presentations at WEFTEC in San Diego
The 80th Annual Water Environment Federation (WEF) Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) will take plave in San Diego, from 13-17 October.
Dan McCarthy, President and CEO of the Black and Veatch global water business, will serve as moderator for a plenary session entitled "Global Views on Water Reuse," which will feature speakers from Australia, Singapore and the United States.
"We are looking forward to having so many of our technology leaders taking part in this important conference, particularly as the overall theme is on fostering sustainable behaviour and other environmental issues," said McCarthy: "The entire industry benefits from the exchange of ideas and experiences that occurs when wastewater experts from utilities, universities and companies like ours converge".
The 19 sessions that Black and Veatch professionals will present and the nine that they will moderate include such diverse topics as:.
* Reuse Down Under: AWT Provides Drought Relief for Queensland.
* Corrosion Failure in Deep Wastewater Tunnels: Lessons and Solutions.
* Reducing Greenhouse Gases and Air Emissions from Sewage Solids Incinerators.
* Engineers Without Borders: Sustainable Engineering for Developing Communities.
* Pilot Testing of MBBR and IFAS Treatment Processes for Nitrification and Denitrification at the Mamaroneck WWTP.
* Use on Online Nutrient Monitoring for Automatic Aeration and Nitrate Recycle Pump Control.
The seven poster presentations by Black and Veatch feature such titles as: * Effluent to Energy, and it is renewable!.
* Watershed Management in Singapore's Western Catchment.
* Tertiary Phosphorus Removal: An Effective Treatment Strategy for Reuse Applications.
Black and Veatch professionals will also lead workshops on such topics as fundamentals of water re-use, design considerations for high-level nutrient removal reliability, everything necessary to know before embarking on MBR projects, and fundamentals of financing and charges for wastewater utilities.
Additionally, the WEF will present Mary Knosby of Black and Veatch a special award as an Outstanding Young Professional.
