The compressor systems have all been ordered to help the companies meet the 2006 requirements for reduced sulphur content in fuel.
Peter Brotherhood will design and manufacture the compressor systems to American Petroleum Industry standard 618 (API 618) and specific Sapref/Shell specifications.
The equipment will be delivered to the Sapref (Shell and BP) refinery in Durban at the end of the year.
The two throw, single stage machines will each be supplied with a drive motor, oil system, pulsation vessels and local instrumentation.
A separate water console will also be provided and uploaders will be fitted to the compressors for capacity control.
The compressors will serve the hydrogen feed system of an isomerisation unit.
Peter Brotherhood won the order because of its proven track record in designing, manufacturing and supporting gas compressor systems worldwide.
