Hydrogen compressor order for Europoort

Jacobs Nederland has placed an order for the supply of two Peter Brotherhood API 618 reciprocating gas compressors, for use on the 96.5% hydrogen used in the process of hydrofining diesel

Jacobs Nederland has placed an order with Peterborough-based specialist engineering company Peter Brotherhood to supply two API 618 reciprocating gas compressors.

The company will design and manufacture two, four throw, three stage compressors which will be delivered to the Nerefco Oil Refinery in Europoort, Holland in October 2007 as part of a project being managed by Jacobs.

Each compressor will compress 96.5 per cent hydrogen used in the process of hydrofining diesel from 3.2 bara to 35 bara.

The equipment will be mounted on concrete plinths and will comprise the main drive motors, oil consoles, intercoolers and inter-stage separators.

The compressors will also be fitted with Prognost NT condition monitoring equipment, which helps increase uptime by continuously monitoring each machine and identifying potential problems with its operation before they cause it to fail.

The Peter Brotherhood compressor technical support manager, Allan March, said: "The client required API 618 reciprocating gas compressors and we were able to demonstrate our expertise in this field both technically and commercially.

Our equipment will be produced to the client's specifications as well as API 618 standard and within the budget and schedule they have laid out".

Peter Brotherhood designs, manufactures, installs and commissions API 618 reciprocating gas compressors as complete packages incorporating the prime mover, gas processing plant, instrumentation and controls.

The company specialises in supplying equipment for onshore and offshore applications including refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing plants and FPSO vessels.

Steam turbines, packaged CHP systems and special purpose machinery are also designed and manufactured by Peter Brotherhood .

The company will be celebrating 140 years in business in 2007 and has supplied equipment to more than 100 countries around the world.
