Pipe system ensures best hygiene in food use

A Baumer Group product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Dec 31, 2002

The Bourdon-Haenni "In-Line" system of hygienic pipes with integrated unions are a range of high performance pipes specially engineered for use where hygiene and ease of cleaning are important.

Bourdon-Haenni, the company that brings together three leading names in the field of high performance industrial and process instrumentation, announces its first new product, the Bourdon-Haenni "In-Line" system of hygienic pipes with integrated unions.

The unique new system comprises a range of high performance pipes specially engineered for use in the food manufacturing industry where hygiene and ease of cleaning are major considerations.

Ideal for installation into process piping, they enable measurement sensors to be safely introduced into a system without any risk of contamination.

Available in diameters from 38 to 101.6mm they comprise a short length of pipe (between 170 and 390mm dependent on the diameter) with either one or two integrated unions for industry standard 3A/DN38 connections.

Manufactured in acid resistant stainless steel, they comply with the stringent requirements of EHEDG, FDA and are certified 3A.

They are easy to weld into new or existing pipelines, ensuring hygienic connections and dimensional accuracy without the traditional, costly finishing of the surfaces.

The clever design, combined with the careful selection of materials, ensures that the In-Line system meets the requirements for (in place) cleaning (CIP), sterilisation (SIP) and aseptic capability (bacteria tightness).

Any shapes or crevasses that could trap cleaning fluids or product have been engineered out of the design.

Each standard 3A-DN38 connection allows a compatible sensor such as the FlexBar HRT pressure transmitter or CombiTemp temperature sensor to be fitted.

The In-Line pipe with two unions provides the ideal solution for precise spot measurements of both temperature and pressure.

Each connection is engineered to ensure that when fitted with a pressure transmitter, the diaphragm is flush to the walls of the pipe, avoiding any shadow areas.

A specially designed groove and O-ring seals the connection and accommodates any movement due to temperature change.

A leakage detection hole alerts the operator to the need for maintenance or replacement of the O-ring seal, which is made from EPDM and complies with the demands of the FDA.

The range includes In-Line pipes with either one or two unions for DN38, DN51, DN63, DN76 and DN 101 systems.

In-Line pipes are quick to install and ideally suited to applications in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, fine chemicals, beverages and dairy industries.

They provide the process engineer with quick and easy way to obtain spot measurements of temperature and pressure, whilst setting new standards for versatility and hygiene.

Bourdon-Haenni brings together the extensive knowledge and expertise of three leading names in the field of high performance industrial and process instrumentation, Bourdon Sedeme, Haenni Instruments and Kamstrup Process.

The In-Line system is the first of many exciting new products which will be announced by the new company, extending an already comprehensive range of industrial and process instrumentation equipment.
