Pressure transmitter EF6 for high
reliability
The EF6 high reliability pressure transmitter from Baumer is suited to frequent pressure cycling applications, for example in hydraulic and pneumatic brake control or in cooling circuits
With the EF6, Baumer Process Instrumentation has developed an EMC-safe pressure transmitter suitable for multiple cycling, especially for transport applications It is already applied in the brake system of several high speed trains

Fast response Modbus pressure transmitter
A specially developed Modbus pressure transmitter, the Baumer EC6, is unique in having an extremely fast response time of only 1msec
The pressure transmitter is especially suitable for railway applications, where the pressure sensors are submitted to many pressure cycles: these are in the hydraulic and pneumatic brake control and in the cooling circuits.
The EF6 can also be applied in high voltage areas.
In another locomotive application, the EF6 controls the pressure of the pantograph (a device that collects electric current with up to 2,500 Ampere from overhead lines) on the power supply line.
The output signal is transmitted to a microcontroller for pressure regulation.
Furthermore, the pressure control in the locomotive pneumatic brake system can be carried out by the EF6.
The EF6, protected by a stainless steel case, is available with a piezoresisitive or a capacitive ceramic sensor.
The measuring range can be chosen individually, according to customer needs, between -1 to 100 mbar and 0 to 200 bar.
The global accuracy for operating temperatures between -40C and +85C is 0.5% of FS, including linearity error, hysteresis and zero drift.
The response time is less than 15msec.
With a MTTF (mean time to failures) of 10 millions hours, the EF6 has excellent long-term stability.
Due to its high reliability, the EF6 can be used also in harsh transportation applications like tank and fire trucks or public works machines.
The device conforms to all important standards for railway applications like EN50155 (Electronic Equipment Used On Rolling Stock), CEI IEC 61373 (shocks and vibrations), NF EN 50121-3-2 (electromagnetic compatibility) as well as the fire and smoke standards NF F 16-101 and NF F 16-102.
