Reducing the carbon footprint of
wastewater plants
Launching the Government's water strategy for England, "Future Water", Secretary of State Hilary Benn emphasised the need for the industry to reduce CO2 emissions by improving efficiency
Wastewater treatment is therefore set to be a focus as companies are forced to sign up to the Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme which will entail major reductions in carbon footprints With wastewater treatment accounting for a significant proportion of the power consumption, many visitors to IWEX will be looking for a solution to this problem

Thankfully, they need look for further than stand K40 at IWEX, where the Brightwater will present their HSAF Submerged Aeration Filtration, which delivers high efficiency with minimal air and power requirement.
With a typical life of 20 years, the energy savings attainable with this technology can take a major slice off both the financial and environmental bottom line.
HSAF is a biological process which efficiently reduces BOD and ammonia: it utilises the unique Brightwater BMax floating media which is manufactured from recycled plastics.
With more than 40 units installed in the last 12 months, in both municipal and non-municipal applications such as 'Food and Beverage' and landfill, Brightwater FLI has a proven technology.
In addition to low power output the user friendly system delivers high quality effluent (1mg/l ammonia in tertiary mode) with an exceptionally small physical footprint.
Available as a package or a bespoke system, plant can be purchased or hired.
Four standard sizes are offered which can treat up to 1000 PE in a single unit, with bespoke systems available to serve larger schemes.
In addition to an expanding UK market, Brightwater are now looking to offer their successful technologies in central Europe.
