Sampling system for food fluids
An addition to the Isolok automatic sampling devices from Bristol Equipment Company is designed for flowable, medium-viscosity process materials, for food, dairy and pharmaceutical applications
New Isolok Series MSC Samplers draw measured samples of heavier fluids such as cream, condensed milk, whey or single-strength orange juice, on command from an automatic control Actuated by a compressed-air cylinder for greater safety and simplicity, MSC samplers tap process streams moving through pipes or vessels pressurised up to 200 psi, as well as troughs or tanks

Automatic samplers for dry bulk materials
An expanded series of Isolok automatic sampling devices offered by Bristol Equipment Company draws measured portions of dry, flowable, bulk materials in powder, flake, granular or pellet forms
Isolok design keeps the sample path completely enclosed to avoid spillage waste, contamination of sample or process, and material exposure to personnel or the plant environment.
A simple, easily cleaned design with only one moving part, the Isolok Series MSC samplers mount through an access port installed on the process equipment, secured by a standard 2 inch ferrule clamp and gasket.
The sampler body encloses a plunger that extends into the process stream then immediately withdraws.

Samples are trapped in an annular ring at the end of the plunger, sized to capture 14cc of material by positive displacement with each cycle.
The sample is drawn into the sampler body and discharges by gravity directly into an attached container or transfer line.
Custom annular rings for different sample sizes are available.
Designed to meet sanitary standards for food, dairy and pharmaceutical applications, all metal parts are type 316 stainless steel with polished finish.
Moving parts are hardened with industrial chrome for extra wear resistance.
Field-changeable O-ring seals encircling the plunger at both ends of the annular ring keep the process material isolated regardless of plunger position.
Product-contact seals are FDA-recognised elastomers; non-contact seals are filled Teflon.
Alternatives include Buna-N, Viton, EPDM or polyurethane elastomers, in both general-purpose and food-grade compounds.
Standard MSC sampler construction includes a built-in bottle mount that accepts standard plastic labware containers with 70mm threads.
Adapters are available for other bottle-thread sizes.
Sample containers are offered in sizes ranging from 125ml to 4 litres (one US gallon).
Actuating cylinders, designed and manufactured by Bristol, are double-acting, heavy-duty construction and eliminate any need for supplemental lubrication in the operating air.
Two cylinder sizes, both with 2 inch stroke, offer 1.5 inch bore for use with process pressures up to 70 psig, and 2.373 inch bore for process pressures up to 200 psig.
Available cycle controls include automatic time-base, flow-proportional, manual cycling and PLC (programmable logic controller) interface modules.
Custom-designed control stations and automated multi-sample collection devices can be provided by Bristol engineers to meet any process sampling requirement, including interfacing with fully automated production systems.
