Tank cleaning business has new owners

Sentry Equipment, the leading worldwide supplier of sampling components and systems for over 80 years, announces the sale of its tank cleaner product line to Tanker Wash Systems of Sandwich, Illinois

Sentry Equipment is a well-known international manufacturer and supplier of sampling equipment and sampling solutions for the power generation and process industries.

Sentry added the tank cleaner product line to its portfolio through its 2003 acquisition of the Bristol Equipment Company of Yorkville, Illinois.

The well-respected Bristol Isolok brand of automatic samplers for liquids, slurries and powders/pellets was incorporated within the wide array of Sentry gas and liquid sampling equipment, increasing the offerings to Sentry customers.

The Isolok line of samplers has since become an integral part of the Sentry sampling solutions and product offerings.

The former Bristol tank cleaning systems have been an auxiliary product line for Sentry, not fitting squarely into the Sentry core business; therefore it became a strategic decision to sell the product line.

"The sale is a sound strategic move for Sentry, and Tanker Wash Systems is poised take over immediately.

Jeff Ikemire has more than 18 years of manufacturing and service experience with the Bristol tank cleaner product line and will do an excellent job of taking care of customers," said Bill Werra, Business Unit Manager of Process Sampling at Sentry.

The automatic tank cleaning systems use a high pressure stream of water, slurry or other solvent to cut and flush deposits and sludge from inside highway trailers or rail tank cars.

The jet cleaning flushes deposits out of the tank discharge or drain port, allowing the recovery of valuable acids, fats, oils or other materials left in the tank or reservoir.

The advantages over manual cleaning are reduction of time and labour, increased safety, ease of use and increased sludge removal.

The Sentry support of the tank cleaner line will continue until June 15, 2007, after which all inquiries, parts and service orders will go to Tanker Wash Systems.
