Bronkhorst EL-Press pressure controller units are assisting in the application of supercritical fluids in chemical processing, allowing precise pressure control to modify the fluid properties consistently Supercritical carbon dioxide fluids are now commonly being used as solvents, eg in biotechnology and in semiconductor wafer processing, and new processes are constantly being developed to modify the fluid properties by controlling the CO2 pressure

Recent University based research into the application of supercritical CO2 has used an EL-Press digital electronic pressure controller over the range of 0-400 bar.

Using the EL-Press controller, the researchers can adjust the pressure ramp-up speed, hold the pressure over time, and then adjust the pressure ramp-down speed, all factors which can modify the properties of the supercritical fluid processes.

In this University application, the EL-Press unit is controlled using FLOW-BUS digital communication interface, from a PC, which also records the pressure profile data using Freeware.
