Thorite Group, a leading fluid and air solutions provider, has supplied a range of pneumatic control valves from Burkert Fluid Control Systems to specialist manufacturer Jedwin Engineering of Blackburn The valves control the flow of compressed air in automatic tyre inflation units that are designed and produced by Jedwin for Formula One tyre manufacturer Bridgestone

The machine enables two tyres to be simultaneously inflated to pressures of around 55psi, in order to seat the tyre bead on the rim.

Once the bead is safely located, the unit bleeds air from the tyre to a pre-determined race pressure of around 20psi.

A series of warning lights indicate the stage that the process has reached, with a complete cycle taking 60 seconds.

The automatic tyre inflation unit allows tyre technicians to stay clear of the tyres during inflation, making the whole process safer and more convenient. Request a free brochure from Burkert Fluid Control Systems ...
