Robolux specialist valves join Burkert
Biotech
Burkert Fluid Control Systems has acquired the Swedish valve producer Robolux AB, and will manage the Robolux activities - still under the Robolux name and its RoboValve brand - within Burkert Biotech
The Burkert Group is thereby strengthening its position in robust and growing industries - all the more so since Robolux is the leading manufacturer of multi-way, multiple-connection diaphragm valves with minimum internal volumes for special applications, for example in the pharmaceuticals, chemicals and photographic industries Three years ago Burkert had agreed on co-operation with Robolux, which involved Burkert taking on the marketing of RoboValve diaphragm valves across Germany

Now all Robolux activities are combined under the umbrella of the Burkert Group.
Heribert Rohrbeck, the Burkert Managing Director, is happy with the outcome: "We have made a significant addition to our range of products and systems particularly in the robust growing pharmaceuticals, bio-technology and water treatment fields".
Mike Rodd, General Manager of Burkert Great Britain, who is monitoring the integration of the Robolux range of work and services into the Burkert Group, said: "This acquisition provides us with a unique, patented multiport-valve for integration into our existing production portfolio.
It will provide our customers with efficient process and system solutions".
The Robolux staff are also aware of the benefits of the merger.
"We are glad to become part of an organisation that is in a position to fully realise the potential of the Robolux design," said Bengt Sahlin, the Robolux Managing Director: "In particular that means: uniting two shutoff valves in one housing".
They will now be able to tap new international markets and target the development of new applications in, for instance, the food and beverage industry.
RoboValves were designed for special uses such as sterile applications in filtration or chromatography.
They operate pneumatically or by manual control.
Their special design with just one valve housing saves on T-pieces and welds, thereby reducing the number of required valves and diaphragms, along with the process duration.
With this valve system, Burkert has succeeded in concentrating various valve functions within a small space.
