Carlisle Process Systems has signed an exclusive deal with DSS Silkeborg AS, to distribute new state-of-the-art membrane filtration systems into the UK dairy industry

Carlisle Process Systems has strengthened its competitive edge by turning to Danish skill and expertise to augment its already extensive product range The Dorset-based provider of plant and equipment capable of handling even the most intricate production problems across a whole range of processing industries, has signed an exclusive deal with DSS Silkeborg AS, to distribute new state-of-the-art membrane filtration systems into the UK dairy industry

This latest development from a company, which has specialised in advanced membrane technology for close on 40 years will be marketed by two of Carlisle's three operations, the Cheese Group and the Dairy, Food and Beverage Group.

Carlisle's general manager Charles Todd said: "We are constantly searching across the globe for the best available products to add to our range, so that our growing number of clients in the UK have more of the world's top process equipment to choose from.

The name DSS Silkeborg is synonymous with quality we believe that this association will not only enhance our portfolio but also our reputation as well".

"DSS develop and manufacture innovative and efficient membranes and membrane filtration systems so we feel the link between the two companies is a natural one as the Carlisle Process Systems group of companies provides advanced process plant and technology solutions to the dairy, cheese, whey and powder industries." DSS has been an industry leader for a long time and has built up substantial detailed knowledge of dairy producers' and cheese makers' needs.

"Their technological know-how is impressive in its extent and together with our own expertise it means we can offer a complete range of equipment and services," said Mr Todd.

Identifying the correct membrane is crucial to operational efficiency.

Membrane filtration is a mechanical separation process during which a liquid is divided into two flows by means of the membrane.

Particles, which are smaller than the membrane pores will pass through as permeate with the larger particles being retained in the retentate.

Depending upon the pore size of the membrane, the processes are known as reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), ultrafiltration (UF) or microfiltration (MF).

"DSS are experts in the production of a wide range of membranes and we are confident that we will be able to find the right one for every purpose," said Mr Todd.

The partnership between Carlisle and DSS also means that customers in the UK dairy industry can now access a fast and reliable service for all types of membrane filtration plants including supply of replacement membranes and optimisation and modification of existing plants.
