The benefit of a close working relationship and common management has resulted in an influx of orders for Damrow Finishing Vats to Carlisle Process Systems and Damrow A/S of Denmark

The benefit of a close working relationship and common management, as with members of the CPS group of companies, has resulted in an influx of orders for finishing vats for Carlisle Process Systems (CPS UK) and Damrow A/S of Denmark (CPS Damrow) The latest interest has come from a pair of award-winning cheese producers, Joseph Heler and Belton Cheese

Heler have two 2.5-tonne recently supplied Damrow Finishing Vats in operation as part of a production line at its factory in Nantwich, Cheshire, while Belton have a similar vat on order for use in its 'cheese from the farm' enterprise at Whitchurch in Shropshire.

The vats are in accordance with highest sanitation USDA guidelines, and designed to carry out efficiently the final stages of cheddared and stirred curd treatment, providing ease of maintenance and profit leading process control.

Both companies were impressed by the specification CPS offers in its Damrow Finishing Vats, a brand that has been a market leader for a more than a century and one which CPS strives to continuously improve.

In the latest models the whey drainage channel has been increased in width to speed up the process and the trench cover is now fabricated in heavy-gauge stainless steel.

Other features include a new direct-drive system with variable speed to provide control flexibility for carriage traverse and agitator stir speed.

The system eliminates belts and mechanical components and so requires less maintenance and is more sanitary.

Also available are manual or automated controls to provide constant and reliable operation of agitator speeds and programme steps to produce consistent high quality cheese.

Joseph Heler is widely recognised as one of Britain's champion cheese-makers, and winner of the Queens Award for Enterprise.

Factory manager Dai Williams said.

''We wanted something to help tackle a variety cheeses that are destined for a number of end users.'' Much of the cheese-making equipment installed at Heler carries the Damrow brand name.

''We have been buying Damrow equipment for a number of years now and that's why we went to CPS when we wanted Finishing Vats," said Mr Williams.

Belton Cheese is the current holder of the Supreme Champion National Westminster Trophy awarded at the 2004 Nantwich International cheese show.

Belton also won 60 awards during 2004 for their cheese and are a company with an excellent reputation for quality.

Factory manager at Belton, Ian Luxton, was adamant the right choice had been made in choosing CPS to help boost production of the company's range of English territorial cheeses.

''They are a leader in their field with a very good reputation both in the UK and worldwide,'' he said.

''CPS have many excellent systems in place within the Dairy sector and we have used them before with confidence.'' CPS technical sales executive, Terry Pothecary, commented: "The traditional Damrow Finishing Vats, renowned for their ease of use, are ideal for the type of work these two cheese-makers undertake.

They are the most versatile system available for this work.''.
