Carlisle and Red Kite can help you sleep
Carlisle Process Systems has helped many in the UK's dairy industry in a variety of ways, but assisting people to get a good night's sleep is a new one even for this pioneering company
CPS is already one of the best known names in the UK liquid processing sector and its ability to continue to trade independently will not only further strengthen its appeal, but should also open up a number of new markets.
As part of its on-going development the process engineering and project management resources are being beefed up along with a bigger sales and marketing team to ensure that the Dairy, Food and Beverage division is seen by the market as a single source provider that delivers on its promises.
Managing Director of Tetra Pak Cheese and Powder Systems, Charles Todd, is confident that the arrangement will bring a large number of benefits.
Mr Todd says: "The Dairy Food and Beverage division will continue to serve its UK customer base under the CPS brand name with the same enthusiasm that it always has done.
This means that existing customers can work with the same people they have known for years whose priority, as always, is to provide the same great level of service and attention that people have come to expect from CPS".
The business is highly focused and will concentrate on expanding its large existing customer base and product offering.
The Dairy, Food and Beverage division has expanded over recent years to work in many other sectors, such as nutrition, pharmaceutical, paper and healthcare to name but a few.
However, the same building blocks are used for all process systems namely intake and storage, mixing and blending, heat treatment and pasteurisation, and separation and homogenisation.
CIP (Cleaning in Place) is a CPS speciality with a variety of options available for all industries.
Also offered under the CPS brand is a range of process vessels and storage tanks, manufactured in-house at the modern Dorset facility, as well as on-site installation, fabrication and pipework services.
Typical recent projects include a process system for honey and sauces, bespoke ice cream production plant, yogurt and dessert plants, several packaged pasteuriser modules, fruit process system, CIP sets and a number of chocolate process vessels.
COMPANY HISTORY.
The UK business was started in 1885 by the Gate family, under the trading name West Surrey Dairy.
Following re-organisation in 1925, trading subsidiaries were established, one of which was Wincanton Transport and Engineering Company.
In 1929, the parent company changed its name to Cow and Gate, which was followed by various moves.
In 1945 the business amalgamated with a local electrical firm and later changed its name to Wincanton Engineering .
Then in 1959, a merger of Cow and Gate with United Dairies resulted in the establishment of Unigate, which owned Wincanton Engineering until its sale in 1987 to Brunel Holdings plc.
In 1998, the business moved to its present purpose built three-acre complex at Coldharbour Business Park in Sherborne, Dorset.
The next piece of history occurred in 2001 with the acquisition of the company by a publicly quoted USA trading giant known as Carlisle Companies.
Up until December 2006 the Sherborne company was part of Carlisle Process Systems, a world leading systems and equipment business supplying the cheese, dairy, food, beverage, pharmaceutical and powder industries: Carlisle Process Systems also has other manufacturing facilities, notably in the USA and China, as well as sales and service offices throughout the world.
All of the Carlisle Process Systems companies traded under the single CPS brand, but this has now been discontinued.
Some of these Carlisle Process Systems group companies have been acquired from Carlisle Companies by Tetra Laval.
Within Tetra Laval, as a part of Tetra Pak Processing Systems, Tetra Pak Cheese and Powder Systems will take responsibility for the cheese category including systems and equipment for all types of cheese as well as whey and dairy powder.
However, the Dairy Food and Beverage division in Sherborne will continue to serve its customers in the UK under the CPS brand name.
Customers can carry on working with the same people they have known for years whose priority, as always, is to provide the same great level of service and attention that people have come to expect from CPS.
