New pasteuriser for Duchy College, Cornwall

A CPS: Tetra Pak Cheese and Powder Systems product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jan 4, 2008

Tetra Pak CPS has recently installed a new pasteurisation system as part of a GBP5million project to develop the Duchy College Agri-food Innovation Centre in Cornwall

An EU tender posted by the Cornwall College Group was won by Tetra Pak CPS after it quoted a competitive price, which included guaranteed excellent customer service, after-sales care and maintenance costs.

Tetra Pak CPS supplied the centre with a 500 litre per hour skid mounted pasteuriser together with two modified and reconditioned tanks, where the equipment is benefiting the college further by enabling it to work with SME dairy businesses.

The new pasteuriser was supplied complete with a packaged chilling plant and mobile vessels for raw and pasteurised products.

It was designed primarily to process milk for bottling, cheese and yoghurt production and for pasteurising a variety of fruit juices.

With its high level of flexibility and expertise, Tetra Pak CPS was able to tailor the equipment to the specific requirements of the college.

Due to the plant having a wide variety of potential uses, the company designed the units with variable temperature profiles, holding times and flow rates - making it as adaptable as possible.

Whilst Duchy College set up the Agri-food Innovation Food Centre to cater for higher education food technology programmes, it has also created a significant enterprise environment with small local businesses using the facilities for new product development.

Renowned for going the extra mile, Tetra Pak CPS tested the equipment at its factory, which reduced the overall installation time at the college, and it supplied specifically modified information about the machinery to the students at the college.

Jon Stephens, Head of Agri-food Innovation Service at Duchy College is very enthusiastic about the project and commends Tetra Pak CPS for its professionalism and high level of workmanship.

He said: "The service from the sales and technical engineering teams was excellent.

Tetra Pak CPS has helped us to provide the physical infrastructure for teaching small businesses about new processes with easy to use and expertly designed machinery.

The pasteuriser is ideal for training which has helped us to deliver improved working programmes".

Mr Stephens concluded: "Tetra Pak CPS has a depth of knowledge that is invaluable to anyone needing their equipment.

I have already recommended them to another organisation - the flexibility and quality of the equipment and service is excellent".
