Centice Corporation has been awarded a patent for a breakthrough Rapid Pharmaceutical Verification and Identification System
Centice Corporation, a pioneer in next generation sensor technology, has announced that the company expanded its patent portfolio with the recent patent award for a "Rapid Pharmaceutical Verification and Identification System" This patent (US Patent No 7,218,395) describes a fully automated pharmaceutical identification and verification system that operates through a prescription vial or bottle without requiring cap removal/replacement, while providing superior verification speeds with higher accuracy

Ray W Swanson, Centice president and CEO said: "The PASS Rx pharmaceutical authentication sensor system, planned for 2008 availability, will improve patient safety by enhancing the quality assurance process for dispensed medications".
Centice designs and manufactures computational sensors which enable a new generation of high sensitivity molecular spectrometers and analysers.
Centice is the exclusive licensee of the coded optical sensor technology first developed at Duke University under NIH and DARPA grants for tissue spectroscopy and spectroscopic imaging.
To date, the company has five issued patents and twelve filed patent applications.
