Seventeen companies were short-listed from the original applicants to receive sustained support over the next twelve months in addition to that provided by Business Link and other initiatives.

Mike Carr, the emda Executive Director of Business Services said that he was pleased with the amount of interest in the programme and delighted with the high standard of applications which, he said, clearly demonstrated that the companies in the region were committed to building a competitive edge.
Centriquip is the UK's largest manufacturer of decanter centrifuges: high-value capital equipment used for separating liquids from solids especially in the food and beverage industries, for environmental control in manufacturing and process industries, and as vital technology in the sewage treatment industry.
Richard Montanaro, Centriquip Managing Director, was equally pleased to have his vision for the company acknowledged by an outside agency.
