Seminar on powder flow and handling
Any material users who want to know more about the measurement and control of powder flow will be able to get their questions answered at a specially organised seminar.
Any material users who want to know more about the measurement and control of powder flow will be able to get their questions answered at a specially organised seminar.
PowdermatriX, in conjunction with the RSC Particle Characterisation Group are hosting the event, which will be held at Pride Park, the home of Derby County Football Club, on Wednesday 13th September.
The programme will cover the many issues relating to powder flow, and will include a series of formal presentations as well as a display of analytical equipment and an open forum.
There will be a team of specially invited guest speakers and experts on hand to share their knowledge and experience, including Mike Bradley from the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, who will be giving an overview of the key issues.
Phil Jackson of PowdermatriX, explained: "This event will have a wide appeal.
Powders are used in many products from metals and ceramics to pharmaceuticals and food.
Manufacturers share technical concerns in powder flow, which this meeting aims to address".
Since powder flow behaviour is often intrinsically linked to powder particle size, the meeting will also be used to promote a DTI project led by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) that aims to remove the variability associated with particle size measurements and produce a protocol for making measurements that ensure more consistency in data from different laboratories.
Companies will be encouraged to get involved in the project by contributing particle size measurements on standard powders.
The cost of the seminar is GBP100 for non-members and GBP80 for members of either PowdermatriX or the RSC Powder Characterisation Group.
Students can attend for a special rate of GBP55.
