One of the most important features of the new Thermosight HT is the spectral range at which it operates, from 1.45 to 1.7microns.
These are ideal wavelengths to use for measuring high temperatures as they correspond to the peak energy emission for these temperatures, enabling the HT to provide its very high 0.75% accuracy.
This short wavelength response is also ideal for measuring metals, because at shorter wavelengths their emissivity values increase, helping to reduce the errors to which other infrared units can be prone.
The performance levels are very high on all fronts for the new HT model.
The response time is a lightning quick 20ms, allowing even the fastest of processes to be measured.
The field of view focuses down to a spot size of just 4mm at a distance of 800mm, and has a distance to spot size ratio of 50:1 in the far field, which enables small targets to be measured from a safe distance.
This is combined with concentric laser sighting, so users always know exactly where they are aiming.
The emissivity value of the HT is adjustable enabling it to be used with virtually all materials, and a Hi-alarm can be set to help detect hotspots.
Minimum, maximum, average and differential readings can be taken, and a staggering 750 values can be stored in the internal memory.
These can then be accessed via a PC and the RS-232 interface of the Thermosight HT.
An analogue 1mV/C output is also provided, enabling connection to other instrumentation for continuous data acquisition or control.
As with all of the Thermosight series, the new HT comes supplied with a hard case to help keep it protected while in transit and when not in use.
It can also operate in ambient temperatures up to 60C, so can be used in even the hottest conditions.
