CBA appoints Regulatory Affairs
Specialist
The Chemical Business Association (CBA) has appointed Michael Cooper as its Regulatory Affairs Specialist in a further expansion of its technical services to member companies
Michael will focus on environmental regulation and be responsible for the management of the CBA Responsible Care programme as well as the CBA interface with the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Environment Agency on regulatory and compliance issues Michael Cooper holds a BSc in Chemistry and began his career in the chemical industry in 1978 as a Quality Control Chemist with the Harlow Chemical Company

In 1980 he joined the Hercules Powder Company and was responsible for product development and quality.
In 1994, he became Process Chemistry Manager for European Colour (Pigments) and managed quality and process improvements as well as new product transfers.
In 1999, he was appointed HSE Manager and, in 2005, his role was extended to cover regulatory affairs.
He was responsible for regulatory performance and documentation, external analytical services, contributed to the successful implementation of environmental management systems as well as preparing for the introduction of REACH.
