In addition to its role in providing general industry-wide benefits, Citect Batch product enhances the ability of CitectSCADA to provide the integration platform for e-manufacturing strategies.
Packages such as the Citect CitectSCADA are absolutely fundamental to e-manufacturing strategies, with the latter's emphasis on seamless integration and real time monitoring and control of events.
The ability of CitectSCADA to collect plant data centrally - from anywhere on a network - greatly improves the ability of managers to assign work based upon which plant can deliver the quickest response or the lowest cost of production at a particular point in time.
In addition, centralised real time information gathering enables e-manufacturing companies to improve their methods of assigning costs to individual plants, analysing energy usage and trends and assigning orders to take advantage of fluctuations in energy costs.
Although new to the UK, CitectSCADA Batch is already well proven in Germany, where it has provided many benefits in the cosmetics, food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
In one cosmetics applications Batch has achieved an increase in productivity, coupled with a reduction of staff, by enabling control and monitoring to be centralised in one control room.
Batch is also providing the means for one well-known German manufacturer of pharmaceuticals to achieve validation to FDA CFR part 11, and, as a redundant system, is providing the means for a food and beverage company to ensure the safety of its personnel and equipment.
