Calibration checks and cleaning of Rotameters
Rotameter check and re-calibration is sometimes an overlooked issue: the limited moving parts perform a critical role for flow measurement accuracy, and periodic cleaning and calibration is necessary
Rotameter calibration is sometimes an overlooked issue: although such flowmeters have limited moving parts, since they perform a critical role for flow measurement accuracy, the meters should be scheduled for periodic cleaning and re-calibration.
There are many types of Rotameter, or variable area flowmeter, from many manufacturers, and although they may differ in size, materials of construction and appearance, they all do basically the same job.
Ensuring your meter is scheduled on a periodic re-calibration, and often cleaning requirement, will ensure you maintain the best performance of your flow measurement equipment.
Variable area meters are basically a gauge that consists of a graduated vertical tube containing a float that moves up and down as the flow rate changes.
They are a meter that many laboratories and manufacturers use for the measurement of water flow or air flow.
During service use, a Rotameter will often accumulate foreign material on the float and/or on the tube, and will eventually cause inaccuracy within the meter.
In many cases, a yearly calibration will keep your measurements accurate and save you time and money in maintenance.
The Calibration Trade Centre laboratory has experience of calibrating variable area flowmeters from various manufacturers, on water, fuels, oils, air and gases.
Offering traceable calibrations, quick turnaround and a cost effective service, CTC provides its clients with a complete solution for its all flowmeter calibration and servicing requirements.
UKAS accredited calibrations can also be arranged through its partner companies, operating according to the ISO 17025 calibration standard.
