Camcon founder wins at the Cambridge100 Awards
Camcon Technology, the UK developer of the digital valve, has announced that the company's founder and managing director, Wladyslaw Wygnanski, has won the Cambridge100 Innovation Award
The award was made in recognition of his work in developing a high pressure, high speed valve for use in oil well reservoirs.
The Cambridge100 was set up to build greater awareness of the value of interim managers in the Greater Cambridge area and beyond.
The network of experienced freelance senior executives and innovators fulfil the growing need for short-term interim specialists, managers and directors.
This year's awards, sponsored by the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP), showcased high performance projects delivered by the community located in the Cambridge region.
Wladyslaw Wygnanski founded Camcon Technology in 2000 to commercialise the Camcon Binary Actuator, a valve that recycles energy using a combination of magnets and springs.
The valve only requires energy to change the state of the actuator and will work for years off a small power source, such as a battery, at very high speeds.
Over the last year, Wladyslaw and a dedicated team of four engineers have succeeded in creating a high pressure valve configuration for a leading oil exploration company.
This valve is capable of working remotely in deep oil reservoirs and can withstand extreme pressure of up to 5,000 pounds per square inch (PSI).
Although Wygnanski received the Innovation Award for the valve use in the oil and gas sector, the technology offers break-through advantages in a wide range of industries, including automotive, aviation, agriculture and medical.
"I am delighted to have received the Cambridge100 Innovation Award," said Wladyslaw Wygnanski, founder and managing director, Camcon Technology: "This award is evidence that Camcon technology is gaining recognition as an innovative and viable alternative to existing technologies.
The possibilities are endless and I believe that Camcon technology has potential to transform today's industries".
"The experience of the Cambridge100 original members has been supplemented by the innovation skills of new members," said Malcolm Ladkin, president, Cambridge100: "The award to Wladyslaw Wygnanski recognises the importance of innovation to the on-going success of the region as a whole.
Wladyslaw has spent more than a decade developing the Camcon Binary Actuator and by teaming up with a leading oil exploration organisation to design, develop and manufacture a prototype, Camcon innovative technology can be seen in action".
