Supply of kiln support roller shaft at Lafarge
Corus Northern Engineering Services has successfully manufactured and installed a kiln support roller assembly on the 58m long rotary kiln, at the heart of the Lafarge Cement's Cauldon works
Brian Stalker, International Sales Manager for CPE comments: "This is our first collaboration with Tata Projects and so is important to us.
The contract suits the CPE skill sets entirely and includes supply of new moulds and top zones, mould oscillators and mould table, Tundish car frames, modified strand guide segments and enhanced secondary cooling spray systems.
CPE is also responsible for replacing the process control and automation systems associated with the caster, as well as electrical works, including new electric motors and cabling".
The No.2 bloom caster is one of six identical casters at the VSP steel plant, which all share a common casting floor.
As a turnkey contract, CPE responsibilities include the complete design, equipment supply, installation and commissioning of the modified bloom caster.
CPE will lead the project, with its consortium partner Tata Projects, a company based in Calcutta, India, handling some of the design, indigenous equipment sourcing and installation work.
Keith Shillam, Director at CNES, stated: "CPE is the centre of excellence for casting technology within the Corus Group and has provided design, manufacturing, refurbishment, installation and development services for decades, for many external clients, as well as for our parent company.
We are very proud to be associated with VSP, who clearly have great ambitions for growth.
I hope this will be the beginning of a mutually rewarding relationship.
This prestigious project also affords us a fantastic opportunity to develop real working relations with our Tata Projects and Tata Steel colleagues". Request a free brochure from Corus Northern Engineering Services ...
