Leading international weighing and bagging specialists, Chronos Richardson are introducing their BFW, Bottom-up Filling System This ingenious product drastically decreases the generation of dust during the filling of mealy and powdery bulk materials

Such products are notoriously difficult to handle and bag, creating significant amounts of dust, which contaminates the bagging or production area.

In addition, the bags often have to be compacted and topped up with a separate filling system in order to achieve consistent target weights.

The BFW system comprises a weighing system with integrated feeding unit.

At the start of the filling process, the bag is automatically lifted over the feeding unit and then lowered in synchronisation with the filling level as material is fed in.

This ensures the distance between the material and the metering head is kept to a minimum, thereby reducing dust development.

During the entire filling process, the bag is consistently held and guided until it is sealed.

In effect, this keeps the bag in a closed condition, ensuring there can be no contamination.

The BFW is designed to comply with safety and hygiene requirements for food processing equipment as defined in DIN EN 1672, Part 1 and 2.

The BFW system is equipped with an axially driven, vertical screw, which has a rigidly fixed dosing cone.

This guarantees infinite control of the filling and metering process in relation to the characteristics and weight of the bulk material.

Depending on the type of bulk material being handled, dosing is so accurate that a separate top-up system is not required.

The axial movement of the vertical screw provides another important benefit - it automatically cleans the screw pipe.

High-fat powders tend to stick to filling elements and in the worst case this may totally clog up the fillers.

With the BFW, material retention on the vertical screw is reduced to a minimum.

The BFW is designed for easy and fast cleaning, which is an essential factor for equipment used in the food and chemical industry.

The hopper can be automatically opened for cleaning and the vertical screw can be disassembled very easily.

The BFW can be combined with the Chrono-Fill PBS 2000 bagging line, FFS technology or used as a stand-alone version.

By enhancing the basic machine design, Chronos Richardson have also been able to extend the range of applications to cope with high-fat powders.

Bag capacities of 10 to 30 kg can be filled and depending on the product, speeds of up to 600 bags per hour can be achieved.
