Chronos expands FFS product range

A Chronos BTH product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jun 22, 2009

Chronos Richardson is now able to offer a range of form, fill and seal (FFS) systems for bags from tubular film, in addition to its 'U' film technology FFS systems.

The new-generation FFS-H series provides a universal, flexible and economical packaging system for tubular FFS applications at all throughput requirements.

The system is suitable for both free-flowing and difficult-to-handle bulk materials.

A key feature of the FFS product range is its compact, sturdy design that can be supplied in three versions: FFS-H, FFS-HS and the FFS-HSS high-speed version.

Outputs of up to 2,200 bags per hour can be achieved, depending on product characteristics, the method of feeding, the quality of bags and environmental conditions.

The FFS-H range incorporates a number operating systems, including a pre-installed and tested control cabinet, which is designed for minimised film overlap to reduce film wastage and thereby reduce film costs.

It has a low movement design to minimise spare-part holding requirements and has quick and safe reel changeover with an integrated automatic reel lifting device.

Optional features include: corner sealing for compact, easily palletised bags; a gusset forming unit to optimise film costs and usage, with increased time between reel changes; a handle-making unit; a dust cleaning system of the top bag welding area; a vacuum system to de-aerate the bag, eliminating the need for the micro perforation of bags; moveable platform systems for optimum plant utilisation; and bag marking devices.

Upstream of the FFS-H, the Chrono-Weigh E55 F1 high-capacity Nett weighers are matched to its output.

Downstream, meanwhile, a full range of both robotic and traditional, appropriately rated automatic palletisers are available.
