Cognex announced today that it has received a single purchase order in excess of USD2 million from Accretech, a leading Japanese manufacturer of semiconductor processing equipment

Cognex, the world's leading supplier of machine vision systems, announced today that it has received a single purchase order in excess of USD2 million from Accretech, a leading Japanese manufacturer of semiconductor processing equipment.

The purchase order is for Cognex vision systems to be delivered over the next few months and is in addition to the more than USD7 million in orders that Cognex had previously received from Accretech this year.

Accretech will integrate the Cognex vision systems into its wafer probers to perform alignment and inspection tasks on silicon wafers at Accretech customer facilities.

"Wafer probing ensures that chip makers avoid the expense of assembling and packaging defective chips by identifying problems early in the manufacturing process.

We depend on Cognex to help us supply the tools our customers need to produce error-free chips," said Mr Masakuni Matsuda, Accretech Senior Executive Officer and general manager of Probing Technology.

"Accretech and Cognex have enjoyed a very productive and warm working partnership for more than 15 years.

The fact that they have relied on us for their vision needs for that long period is a testament to the confidence that they have in our products," said Cognex CEO and Chairman, Robert Shillman.

"Large orders like this one are indeed welcome news for Cognex and confirm that the industry is in a robust recovery.".
