Serendipity gets things rolling for Cross
Raised rectangular ridges are rolled onto stainless steel wire to produce the necessary filtration gap, in the manufacture of Cross liquid filter coils: a process developed by serendipity!
Even when on-site power or water pressure is not available, the Cross unit can still run a fully functioning automatic filter test, utilising an onboard generator and pumps.
The filtration test rig incorporates a total of four backwashing Cross 'zero gravity' filter elements, which can be supplemented with further combinations of carbon and ceramic filters for applications demanding specialised additional filtration.
Cross 'zero gravity' filter coils are manufactured with different ratings, ranging from 12 to 400 microns, and are quickly and easily interchanged.
The performance of the test rig can therefore be precisely adjusted to produce the optimum filtration effectiveness for individual applications.
In many cases, successful results can be achieved in less than ten minutes.
These results can then be extrapolated to suit the full size operating parameters of the application, enabling an accurate estimate of the size and cost of the final filter solution to be obtained.
The mobile filtration unit is already proving to be popular with potential Cross filtration customers in the commercial and utility sectors.
Sites tested include the inlets at water treatment plants, final effluent channels at sewage plants, boreholes, reservoirs and rivers.
