Coolmation, the exclusive UK distributor for Rhoss, has introduced the latest R134A Z Power series of air cooled chillers.

Now available in cooling capacities from 300kW to 700kW, these chillers are the latest high technology products developed by Rhoss, one of Europe's leading chiller manufacturers.

The Eurovent certified Z Power range will not only meet the existing ECA (Enhanced Capital Allowance) criteria, but will also meet the higher thresholds being proposed by the Carbon Trust.

This new Z Power range from Rhoss is the result of a continuing partnership between the company and the highly regarded University of Udine which brings together the research and development teams from both organizations.

This arrangement has provided Rhoss with the opportunity to create a new breed of chillers, combining energy efficient heat exchange technology with an effective control strategy.

High points of the Z Power HE chillers include:.

* Screw compressors.

A new generation of semi-hermetic screw compressors, specifically developed for R134A refrigerant.

* Plate or shell and tube evaporators.

Both types are designed to accomplish ultra high levels of heat exchange which, size for size has resulted in a more compact device requiring a smaller refrigerant charge.

The low pressure drops on both the refrigerant and water circuits further enhance the energy efficiency.

* Condensers with special fin technology.

The air cooled condensing section, coil and fans, has been optimised by redesigning the tube geometry and fin formation, creating more efficient heat transfer and lower fan motor power input.

* Electronic expansion valves.

An electronic expansion valve achieves precise control of refrigerant mass flow and allows the system to operate at lower condensing pressures, generating significant reductions in compressor power input.

* Microprocessor control.

The controller provides management of each of the compressors capacity steps, and condenser fan step or speed control to give smooth control of variations in load and ambient temperatures down to -5C or -10C.

* Guaranteed performance.

Eurovent accreditation of the range gives guaranteed performance, and is carried out in the new Rhoss Laboratory, one of only two in Europe, capable of operating chillers at their full capacity up to 1500kW and itself certified by Eurovent.
