Copon Wood has begun to 'future-proof' its specialist protective coating portfolio for the water industry with the launch of an advanced solvent free epoxy coating for potable water storage vessels

By gaining full approval under Regulation 31 (4)(a) of the UK Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations with its new Copon Hycote 160PW two component coating system, the North Yorkshire manufacturer claims to have made a technological breakthrough and reinforced its leading position at the forefront of the sector Copon Hycote 160PW has been specifically developed to provide a long term protective interior lining for steel drinking water storage vessels and process tanks

It is also suitable for other water retaining structures and fittings which are either immersed in, or in intermittent contact with, potable water.

Copon Sales and Marketing director Ken Muller says: "The launch of Copon Hycote 160PW clearly demonstrates how Copon is leading the way in terms of 100% phenol- and nonyl phenol-free technology.

Not only is this coating safer and easier to apply than its competitors, but it also has improved curing characteristics which enable over-coating to take place within very controlled time intervals.

"Water utilities and their contractors can be assured that by specifying and using Copon Hycote 160PW they are opting for a coating which has been tested to the most stringent protocols in the UK.

We are looking forward to working even more closely with each of the key players as they strive to fulfil their obligations to improve drinking water quality during the current AMP programme".
