Captec are pleased to announce that they are now offering the EDS-205 5 port EtherDevice switch, a cost-effective solution with compact and rugged design.

This product will be on show at the forthcoming Instrumentation and Offshore Systems Exhibition from 8-9 September 2004 in Aberdeen.

This cost-effective switch is an entry-level industrial 5-port Ethernet switch that supports standard 10/100M networked devices, supporting full/half-duplex as well as MDI/MDIX auto-sensing which means you don't need to worry about cross over cables again.

The wide operating temperature range and DIN-Rail mounting ability make the plug-and-play EDS-205 ideal for industrial equipment cabinets where commercial switches would otherwise need to have shelves or trays made up to accommodate them.

The EDS-205 is capable of operating in temperatures of -10 to 60C, making it rugged enough for any harsh, industrial environment.

Due to its compact housing, measuring only 25x109x88mm, the EDS-205 Switch takes up a small amount of space, not much larger than a cigarette package, can be easily installed with both DIN-Rail mounting and distribution boxes.

The high-intensity hardware design with IP30 protection and LED indicators make the EDS-205 an easy yet reliable Ethernet switch.

The EDS-205 can operate from either a wide range 12 to 48V DC power input, or AC power input from 18V to 30V.

The AC-24V power input is especially designed for applications in the building automation field where the source of power input is often restricted.

The EDS-205 EtherDevice Switch is a truly low-cost versatile solution for all industrial applications.

"The EDS-205 is the ideal solution for people currently using commercial Ethernet switches for demanding industrial applications.

At just GBP89 it offers all the industrial grade features for a minor cost differential", comments Graham Bull, Captec Business Development Manager for Industrial Communications.
