Research published today by the Chartered Management Institute shows that bullying at work is widespread in the engineering sector.
The report reveals that it takes many forms - most of these are psychological in nature - and affects executives across all levels.
Launched today at a conference at the University of Portsmouth, the report also calls on UK businesses to act before bullying affects morale and performance and provides a guide for organisations to follow.
Key findings include.
* one third of directors admit to being bullied.
* six in ten believe that bullying has increased over the last three years.
* top reasons for bullying were cited as a lack of management skills, personality clashes and the failure to deal with bullies in the past.
