Ball screws break 20,000 hour operation barrier
Danaher Motion, manufacturers of Thomson linear motion products, have designed a new form of self lubricating ball screw which has been successfully tested for over 20,000 hours continuous operation
Long stroke, low-noise linear actuator
As industry focuses on the working environment Danaher Motion have launched a new and improved Movopart range that has a very low operational noise profile, with a claimed increased in product life
Linear actuators are increasing being specified, but now with the introduction of the new Danaher high load capacity models, heavy duty linear actuator applications can also be considered.
Traditionally pneumatic and hydraulic actuators were seen as the only viable choice for heavy duty applications.
High capital investment, maintenance costs and health issues are driving industry to specify heavy duty linear actuators such as the new Danaher T130.
The Danaher T130 has a load capacity of 40,000 N, a maximum speed of 2 m/s and a stroke of up to 2m, with facility to support standard magnetic sensors in an IP65 protective enclosure.
Engineers will be particularly interested in the product accuracy.
Electro-mechanical actuators such as the T130 can be controlled with greater precision to provide enhanced repeatability.
The low efficiency of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, together with the high capital costs are helping linear actuators such as the Danaher T130 gain market share.
Today's automation systems operate at high duty cycles, often in tough environments.
Danaher are confident that this new generation of linear actuators will meet the requirements of manufacturing industry.
Linear Motion Systems, as part of Danaher Motion, provides standard and custom linear bearings, linear guides, ball and lead screws, gearheads, linear actuators, slides and systems, precision balls, moulded products, resolvers and feedback devices, brakes and clutches, AC and DC drives and stepper and servo motors.
Its products are applied worldwide throughout a variety of motion applications in the medical, industrial, aerospace, and mobile off-highway markets.
Its highly recognised brand names include: ThomsonT, Thomson TolloT, MicronT, and Deltran PTT.
