Ball screws break 20,000 hour operation barrier
Danaher Motion, manufacturers of Thomson linear motion products, have designed a new form of self lubricating ball screw which has been successfully tested for over 20,000 hours continuous operation
Long stroke, low-noise linear actuator
As industry focuses on the working environment Danaher Motion have launched a new and improved Movopart range that has a very low operational noise profile, with a claimed increased in product life
This makes the product particularly suitable for applications that demand a high load in a space critical environment.
To date OEM's have had to compromise product design due to the size of standard linear motion products, but now, by specifying the Movoact TC16 a more compact design can be developed.
In fact the innovative and aesthetic design of the aluminium extrusions allows the Movoact TC16 to be a visible component.
This will eliminate the need for cover plates or enclosures, and therefore reduces material cost and assembly time.
Service time is also reduced, but the manufacturers claim that the product should have a long maintenance free life due to the use of quality component parts.
The Movoact TC16 is built around a special combination of double-telescoping lead screws with a belt driven gear and the latest in motor technology which has been developed by Thomson, the Danaher Motion business that specialises in linear actuation.
This design ensures quiet operation in a highly efficient package, giving a high load capacity (max 2000N) with minimum current consumption.
An optional encoder can be used to determine the precise position of a load, giving feedback directly to a PLC or control system.
The guiding technology between the aluminium extrusions offers fast, (up to 19 mm/s) smooth, quiet, rigid and maintenance free operation.
Incorporated within the design is the latest anti-friction material, which gives a high moment load capability in a very small envelope.
Safety is always an important consideration when lifting any load and so the Movoact TC16 has an integral self locking mechanism for static load holding together with dynamic braking.
