New head of strategy and business development
In order to strengthen its position in the global energy industry, DNV has appointed David Walker as director of strategy and business development
David Walker is a recognised senior management executive, with 25 years of international experience from the oil and gas industry: he comes from BHP Billiton, where he served as president of production for Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Australia.
David Walker will be responsible for global business development and strategy in DNV Energy, the energy business area within DNV.
He starts in his new role on 12 November and will be based in the DNV London office, reporting directly to Remi Eriksen, the COO of DNV Energy.
"The DNV oil, gas and energy activities are expanding rapidly," explains Remi Eriksen: "With an annual organic growth of close to 20%, we see an increasing demand for our cross-disciplinary services relating to classification, qualification and risk consulting.
In particular, we are experiencing great interest in our services relating to cleaner energy and renewables.
DNV has a unique global role as an independent service provider with the purpose of safeguarding life, property and the environment.
Today, we are going forward from a position of strength and, with the international experience from the energy industries that David Walker brings on board, we are better positioned than ever before".
Covering the entire oil and gas business value chain, David Walker has a near unique breadth of expertise.
This includes business strategy, capturing new growth opportunities, delivering onshore and offshore major capital projects, and improving all aspects of business unit performance.
David commented: "Having worked with DNV as a client in the past, I am now excited to be joining DNV as an employee.
DNV values and aspirations match my own, and hopefully I can use my experience in the energy industry to help grow the DNV energy business area and cement its position as a premier provider of risk management services and sustainable development best practice to the energy sector".
Established in 1864, DNV is an independent foundation with the purpose of safeguarding life, property and the environment: DNV has 7,000 employees and 300 offices in 100 countries.
