Datum Electronics specialise in the servicing and calibration of torque transducers and indicators for their own non-contact ranges (Series 420) and slip ring ranges (Series 405) plus many other commercially available devices Calibration is normally recommended on an annual basis, depending on the application, for continuous sustained and accurate measurement

All calibrations undertaken by Datum Electronics fully adhere to the British Industry Standard BS7882:1997.

This standard specifies the requirements for the calibration and classification of a torque measuring device, allowing for a full and verified service and certification, ensuring a complete calibration service for your torque measuring device and display.

The Calibration Process.

Datum Electronics will supply a quote based on the system requirements for calibration and servicing of a torque measuring device.

This will include calibration and testing of both the torque transducer and the display system most commonly used with that torque transducer.

The calibration service includes an initial appraisal and bench test of the torque measuring device, including its display, before the process of calibration begins.

The system will then be calibrated following the guidelines and principles as referred to in BS7882:1997.

Once the system has been calibrated, the torque transducer will then be fully serviced and cleaned to ensure that the torque measuring device is fit for its intended use, including any low cost repairs or maintenance procedures which are required.

The torque measuring device plus display will then be re-packaged and despatched back to the customer complete with certification and verification of the calibration.

Certification includes a full and detailed set of results of the calibration process, including a re-calibration date as recommended by Datum Electronics.

Overhaul and Repair.

When a torque measuring device arrives for calibration, the system will have an initial appraisal and bench test to ensure that it is in 'good working order'.

If the torque transducer or display fails to meet the required standard, then repair and/or overhaul may be required.

If a repair is recommended, we will advise the customer accordingly describing the nature of the fault, and advising a suitable corrective action to remedy the problem.

If this involves any additional costs, the customer will be advised prior to any work being undertaken.

In some circumstances, the torque transducer or display may require a complete overhaul which involves stripping the transducer down and giving it a detailed clean.

If any parts need replacing they will be replaced such as brushes, bearings, brush caps, inspection windows, shafts etc.

Again, we will not carry out any repair work without consulting with the customer and advising on cost.

This will depend upon product availability associated with the repair/overhaul.

With torque measuring systems that we are not familiar with, we may not be able to offer overhaul and repair.

In these instances we would offer the customer our advice and recommend an alternative on how to remedy the situation.

This would only be a recommendation and it would be up to the customer to decide on an appropriate course of action.

Replacements.

If the torque measurement device is deemed to be unsuitable for calibration, we may offer a suitable alternative product with similar specifications from our wide range for both displays and torque transducers.

We would only offer replacements in extreme cases where the torque measurement system fails, and the option of repair and overhaul is not financially or operationally viable.

Again this is carried out with full consultation with the customer.

Quality and Service.

Datum Electronics have the expertise not only to calibrate existing products, but also to calibrate a range of commercially available transducers and displays including many older stock units and units manufactured by other companies.

We have the capacity to be able to easily calibrate sizes up to 40,000Nm with a turnaround within a few days.

We understand how vital your torque transducer is to your operation, and we offer a typical turnaround time is 3-5 working days, although this is subject operational availability.

As well as Calibration, we also offer servicing and spares support for all EEL 2400 Series Torque Transducers and British Hovercraft Torque Transducers.
