China Butanediol production plant
project
Nanjing Bluestar New Chemical Materials Co in China has licensed a plant to produce 55,000 metric tons per year of Butanediol equivalent product as a mixture of 1,4 Butanediol and Tetrahydrofuran
Davy Process Technology (DPT) has licensed to Nanjing Bluestar New Chemical Materials Co, a plant for producing 55,000 metric tons per year of Butanediol equivalent product as a mixture of 1,4 Butanediol (BDO) and Tetrahydrofuran (THF) Bluestar will build the plant at the Nanjing Petrochemical complex in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, PR China

Davy Process Technology have signed an agreement with PetroChina International to provide a license, design package, equipment and technical services for a 128 KTA normal butanol plant in China
The plant is scheduled to come into operation in the 4Q 2008.
DPT has already started the process and key basic engineering design in its London office.
The plant will use DPT ester hydrogenation technology to produce BDO and its co-product THF from a maleic anhydride feedstock.
The DPT ester hydrogenation technology can offer a full range of product splits between BDO and THF.
The technology was chosen by Bluestar as it provides the product split they require and it is the most cost efficient route to BDO and THF from maleic anhydride feedstock.
Bluestar will source the maleic anhydride feedstock, produced from native coal based benzene technology, from manufacturers situated in the locality of the Nanjing site.
The Bluestar Nanjing BDO plant is the 15th project DPT has licensed using their ester hydrogenation technology.
More specifically it is the 8th project using the ester hydrogenation technology for production of BDO and its co-product THF, together in some applications co-product Gamma Butyrolactone.
DPT is able to tailor the plant design to suit customer preferences as market dynamics shift.
The DPT ester hydrogenation technology is also licensed to produce natural detergent alcohols from fatty acid feedstock.
Davy Process Technology has a global business in petrochemicals technology development and technology licensing.
