X-ray vision systems at Vision 2007
3DX-Ray is using the Vision 2007 exhibition to highlight its in-line x-ray inspection system, X-Line, MDXi and AXIS-3D
All these 3DX-Ray products are complete X-ray vision systems with advanced and automated, real-time X-ray inspection capabilities X-Line and AXIS-3D can be used in-line or on-line and MDXi can, additionally, be used for batch inspection or R+D

A powerful 3D x-ray inspection system on wheels
3DX-Ray, a world leader in 3D x-ray technology, has produced MDXi - an x-ray vision and inspection system that can simply be wheeled around a factory to cope with fast-changing demands
As industry moves towards 100% testing, especially for delicate or safety-critical components and assemblies, there is a requirement for fault-free products.
While functional testing will show any obvious faults, X-ray imaging can also find latent internal faults, which are often due to minor misalignments.
X-Line is based on the 3D and 2D X-ray cameras with a suite of software that controls the system, stores and analyses camera information and outputs application-specific data.
The system can use selective decision-based criteria and apply them to the images generated.
Its isolated digital inputs and outputs are ideal for integration with other equipment and its suite of engineering tools simplifies and speeds up diagnostics.
X-Line connects to an XIMS management system and can analyse features down to 100um at line speeds in excess of 80 m/min.
Designed for low to medium volume in-line production and R+D departments, the MDXi range also provides one-off or small to medium sized batch inspection of materials and equipment.
Unlike the traditional X-ray systems the MDXi range can produce detailed and accurate three dimensional data as well as structural information on concealed objects.
Instead of using an in-line conveyor based system, MDXi employs a 2 axis platen to manoeuvre an object through the inspection process.
All units in the MDXi range employ the 3DX-Ray proprietary X-ray cameras.
AXIS-3D is a fully integrated, stand-alone 3D and 2D X-ray inspection system for large conveyor-belt based items for QC, SPC, NDT and general industrial applications.
The US Government prestigious Transport Security Administration (TSA) organization tested the 3DX-ray AXIS-3D X-ray technology in a baggage scanning application and reported that its real-time three dimensional images provided "significant" improvements when compared to two dimensional X-ray inspection systems.
This is coupled with the AXIS-3D ability to measure relative positions and boundaries very accurately which allows it to separate different components, even when you have close-fit plastic components inside a plastic or metal casing.
