3DX-Ray, a world leader in 3D x-ray technology, has produced MDXi - an x-ray vision and inspection system that can simply be wheeled around a factory to cope with fast-changing demands

MDXi is self-contained, but can readily link into an existing factory system, and works in both batch mode or as part of a robotic assembly line What's more, the high resolution MDXi (~100 micron), can produce, record and display images in 3D as well as conventional 2D

The system can accurately measure linear distances and alignments and the database it produces can be linked into a QC, SPC or SCADA system.

It uses the patented 3DX-Ray line-scan technology and stereoscopic detection system, which eliminates the need for conventional, expensive, panel x-ray detectors.

Additionally, as the detection system only needs about 2% of the X-ray output of competitive systems, dosage to the product is dramatically reduced.

MDXi has a tiny 1.4m x 1.0m footprint, and yet contains sufficient technology to both detect and measure plastic components inside a plastic or metal casing and powerful enough to image an aluminium car cylinder head or see through 20cm of solid steel.

Designed for general purpose inspection, the MDXi system is ideal for applications ranging from the non-destructive testing and verification of complex assemblies through to measuring the internal dimensions of an aluminium casting.
