Industrial oily water separator

A Torr Canada product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Mar 14, 2003

Earth (Canada) is pleased to announce the first sale of a low-profile TORRT oily water treatment system to the industrial market sector

The 5 GPM TORRT System is being used to separate emulsified condensate resulting from air compressor operations.

BIT Millwrighting of Ontario sold the TORRT system to a Tier 1 supplier of a major automotive assembly plant also in Ontario.

Kevin Hewett of BIT Millwrighting comments, "We are excited about the opportunities available in the industrial market sector for the TORRT technology.

Industrial clients are spending a small fortune to have their oily water transported offsite for treatment.

The low-profile TORRT will eliminate this expenditure and add value to any manufacturing plant's bottom line operations".

MJ Plebon, VP of Sales adds, "We have long believed that a market for a low profile TORRT exists in the industrial market sector.

Treating oily water condensates from air compressors is a niche market for Earth (Canada).

Preliminary testing of compressor condensate at an initial concentration of 400 ppm of oil on average was reduced to non-detectable limits by TORRT.

The uniqueness of TORRT for this application is that it can separate and recover oil emulsions 2 microns and greater while existing coalescing equipment is limited to emulsions 40 microns and larger.

TORRT operational costs are far lower than conventional evaporation systems also used on compressor applications since TORRT does not require any heat or use any chemicals.

TORRT will surpass local discharge limits and eliminate the costs for offsite disposal of this wastewater".
