Environmental Applied Research Technology House - EARTH (Canada) Corporation is pleased to announce that it has sold a second "Low-Profile" TORR system for difficult effluents to a Canadian client

Their main business involves the replacement and/or cleaning of oil storage tanks The oily water generated from these operations is to be treated at the client's facilities

The goal of the client is to treat the water to standards suitable for discharge into the environment.

TORR will be a vital component of the sophisticated treatment process.

M.J.Plebon, VP of Sales comments; "Treating a difficult effluent such as this involves several stages, since the effluent will contain hydrocarbons and many other aqueous contaminants such as benzenes, toluenes, xylenes and heavy metals.

While technologies such as membranes exist for addressing the aqueous contaminants, these technologies are often fouled prematurely due to the presence of non-soluble hydrocarbon emulsions.

Membrane performance efficiency is affected, often combined with extensive maintenance.

The TORR technology strategically placed upstream of membrane systems will enhance the membrane performance and reduce the need for intervention.

TORR is a very effective technology for separating and recovering hydrocarbon emulsions 2 microns and larger allowing the downstream polishing systems to effectively accomplish their task.

TORR will compliment any treatment process that needs to deal with non-soluble hydrocarbons".

M.J.Plebon adds; "The (Low-Profile) TORR is a low flow, high efficiency, small footprint technology, which addresses a real market need.

This "Low-Profile" TORR is suitable for compressed air oily condensate treatment, applications where oily water can be treated at the source such as removing tramp oil from metal working fluids, degreasing fluids and other industrial applications.

TORR can effectively extend the life of these industrial fluids thus reducing water and chemical consumption; offsite hauling costs and offers real bottom line savings to the end-user.
