Award for Micromag magnetic separator
The Eclipse Magnetics Micromag, which was launched in 2007, is a high-intensity magnetic filter which significantly improves filtration efficiency over conventional systems
It uses high-power neodymium 'rare earth' magnets to remove ferrous and paramagnetic contamination from fluids and is particularly effective with machine tool oils and coolants The Micromag has been short-listed for a 2008 MWP Award in the 'Best Quality Control Equipment or System' category

Impact Tool Room Services recently installed a 5inch Micromag Filter by Eclipse Magnetics onto their existing EDM machine to pre filter returning fluid prior to the existing cartridge filters
These awards, which have been running on an international basis for over 25 years, recognise outstanding achievement in manufacturing technology.
Award sponsors include the Royal Bank of Scotland Business Banking and the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA).
Micromag secured a place on the shortlist because of its many unique features, including an innovative flow-geometry path, which ensures the filter cannot block and which prevents excessive pressure loss, both of which are crucial to efficient operation.

Magnetic filter proven for machine tool coolants
The innovative new "AutoMag" filter uses powerful magnetism to improve the quality, efficiency and economic performance of machine shop manufacturing, grinding and finishing processes
This is achieved by arranging the magnets around a central magnetic flux return shield to ensure that all the magnet performance is used whilst still allowing unaffected fluid flow, even when the core is fully saturated with contamination.
John Dargavel, Sales and Marketing Director at Eclipse Magnetics, comments: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.
It is a testament to our continued focus on investment and innovation which has enabled us to offer our customers significantly improved filtrations levels in addition to environmental benefits".
For many customers, installing Micromag has been an essential part of achieving their environmental commitments.
All that remains in Micromag is the metallic contamination, which can be quickly and easily removed, avoiding the need to dispose of dirty cartridges.
With minimal running costs and no requirement for consumables, Micromag is becoming an essential part of many of the world's leading manufacturing operations.
Eclipse Magnetics has been leading the field of magnetic technology for over a century and manufactures around 20 000 different products.
These include magnets, magnet assemblies, magnet sub-assemblies, magnetic tools, magnetic chucks, magnetic separators, magnetic filters and custom-engineered magnetic handling units.
Micromag is available in three housing sizes: 5 and 10inches, with 1inch inlet / outlet ports, and a 20inch unit, with 1inch ports.
All units are supplied with port adaptors to suit most pipe connection sizes.
Although compact in size, Micromag has a large holding capacity with units able to hold 900, 1800 and 3600g of contamination, resulting in less downtime.
