TOC instrument manufacturer opts for Purelab Ultra

An Elga LabWater product story

Leading TOC instrument manufacturer Ionics Instruments opts for the Purelab Ultra, since it is a company that understands the importance of a reliable, high-quality water source

A leading supplier of TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analysers to a wide range of industries, it is a company that understands the importance of a reliable, high-quality water source.

As such, they turned to the Elga LabWater Purelab Ultra water purification system to answer their stringent pure water needs.

This state-of-the art water purification system combines multiple purification technologies to guarantee consistent high purity water suitable for the most critical of applications.

Ionics Instruments is a global company which has established a strong position in the water market as suppliers of sensitive TOC analysers to a wide range of industries.

They also have developed a range of other process analysers.

TOC is one of the most important measures of water quality and the demand is for greater and greater sensitivity, especially for the pharmaceutical industry.

The TOC analysers require a regular calibration check to meet regulatory and validatory requirements.

For this role, a very high quality water system is needed, giving consistently low TOC levels with the flexibility to provide a suitable distribution system for rinsing and testing analysers.

It was for this role that Ionics chose to invest in the Purelab Ultra Analytic ultra-pure water system, fed by a Purelab Prima 60 primary grade system.

The systems have been installed at the company's European headquarters, based in Manchester, UK: a site that serves the entire European customer base in terms of distribution, technical support and QC.

The research lab undertakes a range of activities from instrument checks to QC performance assessment.

The major benefits of the Purelab Ultra Analytic include its provision of real-time TOC monitoring as a continual measure of organic purity and the multi-stage monitoring of resistivity provides greater economy, convenience and security.

By combining full spectrum UV photo-oxidation with ultra microfiltration, the Purelab Ultra Analytic produces precision-dispensed purified water with extremely low levels of organic and inorganic contaminants suitable for the most demanding ultra-trace applications.

Ionics was further assured of consistent, high-quality water by the automatic pre-rinse feature that purges static feedwater on start-up and a disinfection regime that is guaranteed fully effective by wetting all internal parts.

With validation a key requirement in many laboratories, the Ultra validation support features, such as PIN-coded protected set points, cartridge traceability, real-time printed records and automatic calibration, provide real assistance in meeting GLP, FDA or other validation protocols.

For a busy laboratory such as at Ionics, the low maintenance demands of the Purelab Ultra Analytic provide a real bonus.

The front-entry doors permit direct access to the system, whilst the quick-fit connections allow fast and easy replacement of consumables.

Furthermore, the automated sanitisation procedure guarantees effective disinfection while freeing up time for more important laboratory tasks.

All in all, Ionics has found the Purelab Ultra Analytic to be a versatile system configured specifically to meet their water usage requirements and capable of producing reliable, very high-purity water that meets their demands for consistence and quality.
