Two new shows to address electrical compliance
Two new shows will address electrical and electronic compliance regulations for companies throughout the UK: schedules include shows in Newbury, Bolton and Glasgow
Following the success of SEEDS (The Southern Electrical and Electronic Directives Show) 2004, the event's organisers, EMC Resources, will be repeating the venture on March 22 2005.
EMC will also be launching two complimentary conferences, NEEDS and ScotEEDS.
SEEDS 2005 will be held in Newbury, while NEEDS 2005 and ScotEEDS 2005 will be held on April 5 in Bolton, and March 08 at SECC, Glasgow respectively.
"The original show addressed compliance and regulatory issues for the electronics industry in the UK," explained Graham Mays the show's organiser.
"However, it was only of real benefit to businesses in the South of England.
These two new shows will allow us to address entire audiences in the North of England and Scotland we previously couldn't reach." The theme of all three shows will be current and future European Directives that affect the electrical and electronic industries.
These will include EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility), the EuP (Energy Using Products) design guidelines, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances), LVD (the Low Voltage electrical safety Directive) and GPSD (the General Product Safety Directive).
"In the time leading up to EEDS 2005 a number of these directives will undergo changes," explained Mays.
"The EMC directive will change due to the SLIM (Simpler Legislation for the Internal Market) initiative due to be published, the WEEE and RoHS directives will be on the statute books and will thus be in their implementation phase and a proposal for the new EuP Directive is likely to be available.
Transposition of the GPSD should also be nearing completion." Each EEDS 2005 show will comprise a full day conference with an associated tabletop exhibition to demystify such legislation.
"Last year the quality of the speakers was excellent," said Mays.
"In 2004 the DTI, Fujitsu, ERA Technology and DEFRA were all represented while exhibitors included Tecan and REO.
"It is essential for every company, whose products have an electrical or electronic content, to have access to the latest status of these regulatory compliance issues," explained Mays.
"These conferences will enable such companies to evaluate the implications for their business and address them successfully." The conference will address the needs of designers, manufacturers, importers, exporters, retailers and third party maintenance and service suppliers whose products have an electrical or electronic content.
