Control valve performance monitored
on-line
Emerson Process Management has a new on-line asset optimisation service that monitors control valve performance as a key factor in efficient plant operation.
The Emerson control valve performance monitoring includes a range of control valve diagnostic and testing services Historically, many of these tests involved by-passing the valve or waiting until that area of plant was shut down

Emerson improves oxygen analyser
Emerson Process Management has enhanced its Rosemount Analytical X-Stream oxygen analysers to improve efficiencies of large boilers and furnaces.
They would for example monitor one of the prime causes of decreased control valve performance - an increase in dead-band, often caused by an increase in friction.
The friction, travel/travel set point, actuator pressure and dead-band values can be trended by the specialist who can estimate when they will fall outside predefined boundaries.
The specialist can also determine whether original performance levels can be re-established online.
Once initial site visits have been made and testing routines established, it is possible for performance data to be gathered automatically.
Performance data are stored on a server so that Emerson specialists can collect and analyse the data from a remote location.
"We like to take a holistic approach to plant performance", said Joe Podolsky, Director for the European Asset Optimisation division of Emerson Process Management.
"We are able to offer a range of services including an analysis to identify critical parts of the plant or critical equipment, control loop audits to determine levels of variability, control valve diagnostics to isolate faults within the valve, repair to fix the fault and then performance monitoring to ensure the performance stays within defined limits.
We believe these capabilities are unrivalled within the industry".
Control valve performance monitoring services are part of the Emerson family of world-class asset optimisation services that help users make significant and continuous improvements in production asset performance.
The services help power PlantWeb digital plant architecture to provide predictive asset management for the plant.
Control valve performance data is delivered by the PlantWeb architecture that automates the flow of information on control valve reliability and performance to the people who run the business.
The control valve performance services help users apply and use the information to significantly improve process plant reliability.
The results include improved process availability, reduced variability, increased maintenance productivity, and reduced equipment cost of ownership. Request a free brochure from Emerson Process Management ...
