The Rosemount 1595 Conditioning Orifice Plate enables the application of DP flow metering technology to measurement points previously considered impossible because of piping configurations.
This new Rosemount product delivers accurate and repeatable results downstream of a range of flow disturbances that normally cause swirl in the flow process.

Further, the Conditioning Orifice Plate offers an economical way to retrofit existing installations that have experienced poor performance caused by limited straight-run pipe-work.
The design innovation in the Conditioning Orifice Plate is simple: instead of having one central orifice, the plate uses four equally sized and equi-spaced holes.
The technology lies in the sizing and positioning of these holes in the flow stream, to condition the flow profile for a more stable, accurate measurement.
This unique design is the highest performing primary element available.
Rosemount Conditioning Orifice Plates require less straight run pipe-work, significantly reducing material, labour and procurement costs.
These devices can be installed virtually anywhere, and bring the benefits of compact and reduced cost skid and plant design to all projects.
The Conditioning Orifice Plate design, incorporated into a one piece flange and manifold assembly to achieve an ISO corner tap design of "Compact Orifice", can be integrated with Rosemount transmitters to produce a cost-effective and reliable DP flowmeter assembly.
The unit arrives fully assembled, configured, tested and ready to install.
The 3051SFC Flowmeter combines this new Compact Orifice design with the scalable architecture of the Rosemount 3051S transmitter.
This flowmeter provides advanced software capability, including user-configured flow units, low flow cut-off and customised process alerts.
Installation flexibility is greatly improved because users are able to install their flowmeter directly in the process piping and position their display and communication ports at grade level.
The Rosemount 3095MFC Mass Flowmeter integrates the Compact Orifice primary with the 3095 MultiVariable transmitter.
This flowmeter enables accurate, compensated mass flow output by measuring differential pressure, pressure, and temperatures with a single device.
It is ideal for gas and steam applications where a compensated flow output is required.
The 3051SFC and 3095MFC are part of the broad Emerson range of intelligent, digital field devices that power PlantWeb digital plant architecture to improve plant efficiency by 2% and more through delivering asset optimisation, process automation, and management execution.
Further cost savings, increased plant availability, and enhanced safety and environmental compliance are achieved when the flowmeters are integrated into PlantWeb architecture.
Technical background and Test data.
The Rosemount 1595 Conditioning Orifice Plate provides +/- 0.5% of reading performance in short straight pipe runs: this figure has been achieved with 2D upstream and downstream lengths, compared to a standard specification requirement of around 44D upstream and 7D downstream.
The uncertainty in the discharge coefficient is +/- 0.5%, provided there is at least a 2D straight length of pipe up and downstream of the plate itself.
This has been confirmed by flow tests on a Conditioning Plate with a Beta ratio of 0.4, using 90 degree bends (single, or double bends in any plane), line size reducers, butterfly valves (75% open), or with up to 10 degrees of swirl induced in the flow: the data from these tests is available (Rosemount 1595 Conditioning Orifice Plate Flow Test Data Book and Flow Handbook, 00821-0100-4810, Rev AA, dated March 2004).
The Rosemount 1595 Conditioning Orifice Plate is available for line sizes from 2" to 24" as standard, and can be used to measure turbulent liquid, gas or steam flows, where the Reynolds number exceeds 2000. Request a free brochure from Emerson Process Management ...
