Micro Motion Coriolis flow meters are the world's first to be safety-certified to IEC 61508 standards simplifying safety standard compliance and boosting plant availability.

The smart Safety Instrumented System (SIS) from Emerson Process Management, an extension of PlantWeb digital plant architecture, is now further enhanced with TUV certification of Micro Motion SIS Coriolis meters.

This certification allows users to boost plant availability by using the technology-leading Micro Motion Coriolis flow and density measurement technology in Safety Instrumented Systems in up to SIL-3 loops, per IEC 61508.

The IEC certification reduces costs by eliminating costly documentation and analysis efforts associated with the alternative prior-use methodology of certification.

Plant designers can now take advantage of the established reliability and intelligence embedded in these certified Micro Motion products to simplify new SIS designs and compliance management.

Micro Motion Coriolis meters integrate into the comprehensive Emerson solution for SIS that includes the DeltaV SIS system with smart logic solvers, final elements such as Fisher Fieldvue SIS digital valve controllers, and Rosemount SIS pressure and temperature transmitters.

This TUV approval results from factory and device audits, as well as validation of the Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) report from Exida, the industry safety consultants.

Micro Motion SIS flow and density measurement devices offer the best FMEDA scores of any Coriolis vendor.

Micro Motion now has single meters approved for use with a SIL 2 capability, and dual Micro Motion Coriolis units can be used in SIL 3 functions, according to IEC 61508.

No other flow meter manufacturer can match this capability.
