Rosemount guided wave radar level
instrumentation

The unique Direct Switch Technology function of the Rosemount 5300 radar level transmitter from Emerson provides an echo signal two to five times stronger than other guided wave level transmitters

Emerson Process Management has released the Rosemount 5300 Series High Performance Guided Wave Radar, which combines proven technology with new features that allow more users in oil and gas production, refining, petrochemical, chemical, power, and water and waste treatment to achieve improved uptime, reduced cost and enhanced safety Applications include tanks, bridles, silos with solids, underground tanks and liquid gas storage

The unique Direct Switch Technology (DST) function of the Rosemount 5300 provides an echo signal that is two to five times stronger than other GWR transmitters.

The improved signal to noise ratio means enhanced ability to handle difficult measuring conditions like long measuring distances and lower dielectrics, also with a single lead probe.

By managing more applications reliably, unplanned downtime can be avoided.

The Rosemount 5300 features the modular design, state-of-the-art electronics and robust housing leveraged from the Rosemount 5400 non-contacting radar.

Electronics and cable connections are located in separate compartments, providing safer handling and improved moisture protection.

The Rosemount 5300 also has a longer measuring range and reliably measures media with lower dielectric constants than other GWR products can achieve.

In addition, it has improved performance in product interface applications and in sticky liquids that cause probe deposits.

The probes of the Rosemount 5300, based on the proven Rosemount 3300, provide multiple layers of protection enabling reliable operation in high temperature and high pressure applications up to 752F (400C) and 5000psig (345bar).

The transmitter seal includes a temperature and pressure barrier in a flexible assembly to handle forces induced by probe movement and temperature variations.

A second brazed hermetic, gas-tight seal provides another layer of protection, and the entire assembly is welded into a stainless steel sleeve for total robustness.

Probes are available in materials such as SST, Hastelloy, Monel, and PTFE-covered SST to withstand corrosive environments.

The two-wire technology of the Rosemount 5300 enables fast and inexpensive installation.

Foundation fieldbus, HART and PlantWeb functionality means the transmitter integrates easily into new or existing control systems.

Add maintenance-free operation and the result is a quicker return on the level instrumentation investment.

Rosemount 5300 High Performance Guided Wave Radar is part of the Emerson broad range of intelligent, digital field devices that power the PlantWeb digital plant architecture to improve plant efficiency by 2% and more through delivering asset optimisation, process automation, and management execution.
