Smart health management for
Turbomachinery

The new CSI 6000 Machinery Health Monitor extends the online PlantWeb Smart Machinery Health Monitoring capabilities to include API 670 protection for turbomachinery

API 670 is the globally accepted American Petroleum Institute definition of industry best practices for turbomachinery protection The new CSI 6000 integrates API 670 protection with the Emerson prediction, performance monitoring, and process control capabilities to manage the health of the most critical assets on a plant

Through the PlantWeb digital plant architecture, the CSI 6000 integrates with Emerson AMS Suite of predictive maintenance applications enabling reliability and maintenance personnel to improve plant availability and performance.

Further integration with Emerson Ovation and DeltaV automation systems provide operations with essential machinery information.

The addition of protection for turbomachinery completes the Emerson online machinery monitoring offering.

The new CSI 6000 Machinery Health Monitor protects critical machinery from catastrophic failures, permitting orderly shutdown of equipment and related processes.

Turbomachines are critical assets in power plants, oil and gas production facilities, refineries, pulp and paper mills, chemical and petrochemical plants.

These multi-million Euro assets weigh hundreds of tonnes; their blades spin at near supersonic speeds and they often operate at over 500C and over 200bar.

They can quickly self-destruct if not protected, potentially causing injury, and environmental incidents along with significant economic impacts.

"Turbomachinery is at the heart of many of the largest process plants and, to operate with confidence, our users need predictive diagnostics, performance monitoring and protection systems integrated with process automation," said John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management: "By delivering these capabilities through the PlantWeb digital plant architecture, Emerson enables users to improve machinery performance over the life cycle of a plant".

The CSI 6000 offers full turbine supervisory instrumentation including case expansion, differential expansion, thrust position, and both relative and absolute vibration with a local display option.

The CSI 6000 rack includes buffered outputs for connectivity with any data collector for raw waveform vibration data.

The 19inch wide rack contains 14 swappable slots, and at 3U high is half the size of traditional racks.

The unit also offers dual, redundant 24VDC power.

"The CSI 6000 Machinery Health Monitor complements our leading online machinery monitoring solutions and AMS Suite predictive maintenance software," said Craig Llewellyn, president of the Emerson Asset Optimisation division: "Now our users can turn to Emerson for the most comprehensive and integrated machinery monitoring capabilities".

A complete range of sensors, adaptors, cables, connectors, convertors, and fittings are available for new installations, retrofits, or replacement of sensors during an overhaul.

Instrumentation adjustments or change-outs can be made while the machine is running.

Emerson offers world-class services to assist users with system design, installation, configuration and start-up, training, and on-going support.

In addition to technology offerings for turbomachinery, Emerson also provides comprehensive services to assist users with system design, installation, configuration and start-up, training and on-going support. Request a free brochure from Emerson Process Management ...
